Fun Spring Festival

The Newburyport Spring Festival is an annual event in our family. Last year Cassidy was barely two months old. This year she danced along with the kids sing-along! Got some great photos - too bad they all have a snotty nose in them as she wasn't feeling great. Though you'd never know it by her personality, she's so happy.
This was a good pic - too bad I cut most of her out of it...

Once we got home she napped and then we tried out the kiddie pool in our backyard for the first time. Our yard is in total sun, all day. It's hard to spend time out there since she's so fair.

The City

Being a new parent, with a newly one year old child, I'm not sure what she'll enjoy doing. What will be horrible for us...  but I think I'm more cautious than I need to be because she's so laid back she seems to enjoy everything. and behaves beautifully. I'm really a lucky mommy.
Yesterday since Bill was home recovering from his heart attack we went into Boston. We went out to lunch at one of our favorite places (and lunch was just as yummy as dinner). Then walked around the public gardens. Cassidy saw the swan up close and put her feet in the pond. We didn't stay long but it was still a nice time.  A really nice start to a long weekend.

Bad to Worse

Wow. I want this blog to be happy but my life just... hasn't been so happy.  Grandpa is in rehab but really...  not doing great. He's confused, doesn't know who we are, seeing things?
Then last weekend my husband had chest pains which turned out to be a heart attack! At 42 years old. He was in the hospital for 3 days recovering and now is on lots of medications.
The tides got to turn right?
It's the beginning of a long weekend and I'm determined to squeeze a lot of fun and relaxing out of it.

Hectic

Life has been hectic. Cassidy and I were sick. My grandpa was very ill (thought he was dying but apparently it wasn't his time and he's on his way to rehab to recover). My mom is ill and hasn't been able to do her daycare duty which has resulted in a lot of "Working from home" for me. Which so far has gone well thankfully but its hard being away from the office.

so I have no pictures. they're still on the camera.

but today, when I picked up Cassidy from daycare, she runs to me as soon as she sees me :-)  it's so sweet and makes me feel so loved!

Happy Mothers day

Cassidy and I had a lovely day on Friday playing in her outside playhouse.

Jake doesn't quite fit in the playhouse
It was a nice springtime day

I was hoping to have a good picture of me in an eye patch

Tuesday daycare called me, they suspected Cassidy had conjunctivitis and needed me to pick her up & take her to the doctors. I had a feeling she was fine. All last weekend she's had a cold and rubs her nose boogers into her eyes (charming I know). So I go pick her up and take her to the doctors where they confirm my diagnosis that she is fine. They give me a note so she can go back to daycare Wednesday. I'm pretty happy. Figuring she'll take a nap when we get home and I can log back into work. I won't use much time off at all.
until...
as I'm carrying her into the house we get the mail. She hold's a piece. And pokes me in the eye with the corner of an envelope! I end up in agony Tuesday and unable to work (obviously). Wednesday I go to the eye doctor and sure enough that envelope cut my cornea. I was hoping they'd give me an eye patch but no such luck.
Luckily it'll all be healed by Monday but the irony...

It's almost spring!

Technically it IS Spring however here in the northeast there have not been too many springlike days. Last week the weather predictors fooled us by saying Saturday was going to be a beautiful day. We decided to go to this garden place to see daffodils. When the day dawned we began questioning the forecast and we were correct. It barely hit 60 and was darkly cloudy most of the day. We still ventured out, though we are still longing for spring.
