Stonyfield Earth Day 5K 2012

Yesterday Bill and I, my sister, dad, nephew and my sister's sister-in-law ran or walked the Stonyfield Earth Day 5K. It was a nice day with good weather (last year was 35 and a rain / hail mix). Cassidy hung out with my mom to cheer us on.

Time to start packing for vacation!  I can't wait. I need a break from work / life desperately!

Cassidy's birthday party was a big hit last weekend. We had a great time and were all very tired after. The weather was beautiful so we did everything outdoors which was nice. Our new swing set got a workout from some older kids!

A doll stroller!

I was going to buy a cake but my sister said that was unacceptable for her niece so she offered to make all her birthday cakes. This year she made a ladybug cake! Love the big smile!

Since that's over we're focusing on running the Stonyfield Earth Day 5K on Saturday. Bill and I, my sister, nephew and dad are all doing it. Should be a fun time.

March and Easter Scrapbook pages

Busy work week and today I'm cooking and cleaning for Cassidy's birthday party tomorrow.

Here are my March Scrapbook pages

Some miscellaneous pictures of Cassidy taken while attempting the elusive 2 year old photo.

And my Easter scrapbook pages. One page is similar to the layout I did for the contest but I changed the background and pinked it up a bit :-)

I'm really looking forward to vacation in two weeks! To be away from work! To be someplace warm! To be alone with Bill. It's funny, it's been 4 weeks since our last date night (my birthday) and I feel it. I've gotten used to our monthly dates and think they're vital to our relationship.

Easter

Easter was nice. Not that I'm religious and really care about the whole meaning of Easter (actually I don't even think I know why this is a holiday?) but I'm always up for a family gathering and the stores being closed so everyone is forced to relax.

I know the stores aren't even really closed but I tell myself they are.

On Friday Cassidy and I colored eggs for the first time. I haven't colored eggs since my mom helped me and it's good that Cassidy is little because I learned some valuable lessons. Like:
  • Read the instructions prior to 5 minutes before you start (you don't just dissolve the tablet with water?)
  • Follow the instructions after reading them (forgot to stir the tablet and water and definitely got some interesting lines on my eggs)
  • Use the little metal thing they give you to fish out the eggs from the dye cups (I used a spoon - creating a wet mess that each egg sat in instead of drying.
  • Don't ask your little girl if she wants to decorate the eggs until you know for sure they've dried.
I'll do better next year. Cassidy didn't care and had lots of fun putting stickers on and coloring the eggs.

Sunday we had dinner at my mom's where Cassidy had a second egg hunt. She's not very good at it and I took not one single picture at our house (I hadn't had my coffee yet).

I'm entering a contest on the scrapbooking site I shop at most. Shout out to Shabby Shoppe. I get an extra entry for mentioning it on my blog so here's my mention. and my entry below. It's a random pick so it doesn't matter how cute my scrapbook page is.

My sweet girl is two!

When you're pregnant or have a baby everyone tells you to enjoy every moment because it goes by so fast. And I, and probably everyone, nods and mutters something agreeable, but ultimately dismisses it.
It shouldn't be dismissed. It goes by so fast. In the blink of an eye. Someone at work said to me "what? I thought you were just pregnant like 8 months ago!"

Two years.

I had no idea what being a mom was about. I love this girl so much its scary. This week she told me she loves me.  Twice!  My heart hurts just thinking about her little voice in my ear saying "I  love you mommy". Even Bill looked a little teary. She told Bill she loved him too. (Just once though, not that I'm keeping score)

We got her a swing set for her birthday. The look on her face and her excitement was adorable! Her independence is in full swing because she tells us "I can do it" when we try to help her.

It's an exciting (or should I say eggsiting?) week with Cassidy's birthday, Jake's birthday, Easter and her party next weekend. She's very excited about the Easter Bunny coming and has been hopping all over the house.
